Mary Foughner Dixon
May 11, 1935 - December 22, 2008
Savannah- Mrs. Mary Foughner Dixon, 73, died Monday, December 22, 2008 at Memorial Health Medical Center after a short illness.
The native and life long resident of Savannah received an associate degree in English at Armstong Junior College. Mrs. Dixon worked for over twenty years as an office manager with Rupert Heller's Prescriptions. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for over forty-one years where she was the director of English as a Second Language, a long-standing member of the choir, the Silver Nuggets, and the Women's Missionary Union. Her husband, Charles Wesley Dixon, IV preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David & Sandy Dixon; daughter and son-in-law, Janet & Stephen Bell; two grandchildren, Chelsea Bell and Christopher Dixon, all of Savannah; brother, Joseph Foughner of Las Vegas; sister-in-law, Betty Iler and her husband John of Sun City, SC, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Earl Best officiating.
Burial: Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made to Music Ministry at Immanuel Baptist Church, 7375 Hodgson Memorial Dr., Savannah, GA 31406.
Mary was a very dear friend and church member. We sang in choir at Immanuel, worked in Silver Nuggets and worshiped our Lord together. We will miss her dearly.
